Aus Art Day 2026
Star Stories is an immersive performance inspired by the First Nations sky stories of the Seven Sisters, Emu in the Sky, Canoe and Scorpion. Bringing together First Nations and non-Indigenous poets, musicians, composers, animators and performers, it combines poetry, original music, animation and movement to create a powerful storytelling experience. Created for audiences of all ages in metropolitan and regional Australia, Star Stories celebrates contemporary First Nations voices through innovative artistic collaboration. On 22 October, as part of Australian Arts Day, we are participating in a special 12-hour fundraising campaign through the Australian Cultural Fund. Donations will support creative development, rehearsals and production costs, helping this unique work to stage readiness. Every contribution will help amplify Indigenous creativity, support artists, and share important stories that inspire connection, understanding and wonder.
Star Stories brings together First Nations and non-Indigenous poets, musicians, composers, animators and performers to share contemporary Indigenous stories inspired by the Seven Sisters, Emu in the Sky, Canoe and Scorpion. At a time when authentic cultural voices matter more than ever, this project creates opportunities for audiences to connect with the world’s oldest continuing cultures through an engaging blend of poetry, original music, animation and movement. Support for Star Stories helps fund creative development, rehearsals and production ensuring these stories can be staged properly and experienced by audiences in both metropolitan and regional communities. More than a performance, Star Stories is a celebration of collaboration, creativity and cultural exchange, bringing together artists across disciplines and cultures to create something truly unique. Every donation amplifys First Nations voices, supports Australian artists and make this powerful work possible.
Funds raised will support artist fees through creative development and final rehearsals including technical production and presentation costs. Donations will help bring together First Nations and non-Indigenous poets, musicians, composers, animators and performers to create an immersive work inspired by the Seven Sisters, Emu in the Sky, Canoe and Scorpion stories. Contributions will also help make the production ready for audiences in metropolitan and regional communities. The result will be a fully realised multidisciplinary performance combining poetry, original music, animation and movement. Star Stories will share contemporary First Nations voices through an innovative and engaging artistic experience that celebrates culture, creativity and connection to the night sky. The project will create opportunities for artists, strengthen cross-cultural collaboration and connect diverse audiences with important First Nations stories. Supporters can follow progress via ACF.
