SIWJF Opening Night with ALLY and Caribé
Combining Jazz, Latin and Caribbean music styles has been a constant rippling pool of inspiration and energy that has fed Spare Parts over the past couple of years. For this night alone they present ALLY at 6.30pm performing a program of Latin-inspired versions of one the most unique and individual Jazz artists of all time: Thelonius Monk.The group will be paying tribute to this Jazz giant in the best possible way by performing select tunes their way and infusing every one with Latin groove.
Cuban Jazz group Caribé will follow at 8.00pm with original compositions inspired by Cuban traditional music, the Orishas and classic styles alongside Cuban dancer and storyteller Adrian Medina. Adrian will be presenting his Cuba through movement, chants and stories. This is an opportunity to be transported by a night of glorious music played for your mind’s ear and your heart.
